Will Biden Dodge the Debate?

With the looming election upon us, we have been patiently waiting for the Presidential Debate between President Donald Trump and Former Vice President Joe Biden. The debate is scheduled to happen tomorrow, Sept. 29th, to be moderated by FOX News’ Chris Wallace in Cleveland, OH.

It is of the upmost importance that this debate happens in person, preferably before a live studio audience, so people can see if Biden has the cognitive capabilities of a potential president of The United States. President Trump has been hosting rally after rally, and his ability to think on his feet has no reason to be questioned, especially being the off-script speaker that he is.

Teleprompter

There has been much speculation on whether or not Biden uses a teleprompter to do his interviews, and I wrote an article titled Biden Blunders,1 where I go into detail about the interview with James Corden on the Late Late Show, Biden lifts a picture, and you can actually see the teleprompter in the reflection of the glass in the frame. Many times you can see his eyes tracking as though he is reading, with the occasional misread words and trailing off. During what was a clearly scripted “interview” with Governor Tom Wolf (D-PA), he actually motions to his staffers to move the teleprompter text up.

He made the same mistake in another speech2, speaking unintelligibly, “And uh, in addition to that, uh, in addition to that, we have to, uh, make sure that we, uh, we are in a position that we are, well, let me, let me go to the second thing. I’ve spoke enough on that,” making desperate hand gestures to have an aide move the teleprompter.

Earpiece

There is also clear evidence that the former Vice President uses an earpiece during his interviews as well. Suspicion was raised when he would tug on his ear whenever he took awkward pauses during his Q&A’s. In a rather embarassing interview3 with CNBC this May, Biden had his earpiece hanging out of his ear, clear as day. After not being able to finish his sentence without getting frustrated, and an uncomfortable silence, Biden asks someone off screen, “I’m having trouble hearing, can they turn up the volume?” As anyone with vision can see in the video below, there is an earpiece; no two ways around it.

Scripted Questions

Then there’s the question of whether or not he has to use scripted questions every time he speaks to the media or his supporters, as it appears he does. Along with the use of a teleprompter, it is pretty obvious that the answer to that would be an adamant yes. However, if you aren’t convinced, below is a video of a young woman in a church in Kenosha, WI, where he was taking questions, and she says, “I’m just gonna be honest, Mr. Biden, I was told to go off this paper (holds up paper), but I can’t; you need the truth, and I’m part of the truth.”

Avoiding the Press

Next, is the interesting route the Biden campaign has taken by not taking questions from the press almost every time he is out of his basement to speak. If you’ve seen his press conferences, they are surprisingly pitiful. His sparsely attended conference has the handful of press allowed, sitting 6ft apart in their little circles taped on the floor with masks on, in a gloomy, dimly lit room. He speaks, and then hurries off stage so the media isn’t even given any opportunity to answer any question asked of him, not that they attempt to ask anything.

Anger Issues

If you haven’t noticed, Joe Biden has some anger issues. There are times when he goes off the handle, calling people who say they are voting for him names, tell them that they are lying, challenge them to fitness competition, telling voters not to vote for him in a fit of frustration, and last but not least, telling a man he’d fight him. I could only imagine President Trump’s ideas about pushing Biden’s buttons repeatedly in order to get him worked up enough to make a fool of himself.

“Look, fat,” “you’re a lying dog faced pony soldier,4” and telling a Detroit factory worker “you’re full of shit” are just a few of the aggressive ways Biden has lashed out when challenged; usually followed by lies. Below is a compilation of Biden’s inappropriately aggressive moments, showing his inability to control his temper; not a presidential quality.

Biden’s Basement

Lastly, we have Biden’s basement, where he’s usually hiding for periods of time in between his brief moments of speaking to the press and voters. There’s really not much to say about it except that he is hiding more than being out speaking to We The People.

There is no doubt in my mind that if the Presidential Debate was held remotely, there would be a teleprompter and possibly an earpiece as well. Chances of getting their true character and ability to think on their feet, are such important aspects of the debate. I really hope to see a legitimate debate between the President and Former Vice President, but I wont hold my breath.

In a recent press briefing, Madame Speaker Nancy Pelosi said Joe Biden should not give President Trump the time of day5 when it comes to debating saying, “I don’t think there should be any debates.” She said of the presidential election between President Donald Trump and former Vice President Joe Biden, “I wouldn’t legitimize a conversation with him, nor a debate in terms of the presidency of the United States.”

In response to Pelosi’s comments about him debating the president, he said, “No. As long as the commission continues down the straight and narrow as they have, I’m going to debate him,” Biden even going as far as to say he will be “fact checker on the floor” when he does debate President Trump.
