2020 VP Debate: Notable Moments Part 3

The 2020 Vice Presidential Debate on October 7th, between Vice President Mike Pence and Senator Kamala Harris, was not quite what I would expect people anticipated. Compared to the First 2020 Presidential Debate, it was a snoozer, but in reality it was incredibly important for the American people to see that Vice President Pence is the calm to President Trump’s storm. It is also absolutely amazing to hear how many relevant factoids Vice President Pence is able to store away!

Vice President Pence eviscerated Senator Harris in this debate, and anyone who says otherwise is lying to themselves. Aside from Vice President Pence’s southern charm and systematically destroyed her arguments and crushed her lies; the Senator would have had to actually answer a question in order to win the debate, a feat which she was utterly unable to accomplish.

Check out 2020 VP Debate: Notable Moments Part 1 for the breakdown of the responses to questions regarding The Coronavirus Pandemic and the Issue of Presidential Disability. Check out 2020 VP Debate: Notable Moments Part 2 for the breakdown to questions regarding The Economy, Climate Change, China, and the Role of Leadership in America.

Here’s Part 3 of my breakdown debunking her lies, and pointing out her inability to answer simple questions one would expect a prospective administration to answer, and notable moments from Vice President Pence, in regards to The Supreme Court, Racial Justice, and The Election.

The Supreme Court

The very fist question in this part is an irrelevant question, as it pertains to what he would want his home-state’s law to be, and he is running for Vice President and his opinion has nothing to do with the state government. Susan Page asked him, ” the Senate Judiciary Committee is scheduled to open hearings on Amy Coney Barrett’s nomination to the Supreme court… Vice President Pence, you’re the former governor of Indiana. If Roe V Wade is overturned, what would you want Indiana to do? Would you want your home state to ban all abortions?”

He gave a nonanswer to the leading question, which he adds to a little further on, frankly it was that our weigh in on an opinion in a state government that he is not directly involved with, instead directing his answer towards his hopes for the Amy Coney Barrett Justice nomination Senate hearings:

“Our hope is in the hearing next week, unlike Justice Kavenaugh received with treatment from you and others, that we hope she gets a fair hearing. And we particularly hope that we don’t see the kind of attacks on her Christian faith that we saw before. I mean, the Democrat chairman [Feinstein] of the Judiciary Committee before, when Judge Barrett was being confirmed for the court of appeals, expressed concern that the dogma of her faith lived loudly and her, and Dick Durbin of Illinois said that it was a concern. Senator, I know one of our judicial nominees you actually attacked, because they were a member of the Catholic Knights of Columbus. Just because the Knights of Columbus holds pro-life views-So, my hope is that when the hearing takes place- That Judge Amy Coney Barrett will be respectfully voted and confirmed into the Supreme court of the United States.”

Vice President Mike Pence

Posed an identical question with California in place of Indiana, Kamala partially answered her one and only answered question because she is a diehard pro-choicer followed by a long attack on the repeal of the Affordable Cares Act:

“First of all, Joe Biden and I are both people of faith, and it’s insulting to suggest that we would knock anyone for their faith, and in fact, Joe, if elected, will be only the second practicing Catholic as President of the United States…  We’re literally in an election. Over 4 million people have voted. People are in the process of voting right now. And so, Joe has been very clear… let the American people fill that seat in the White House. And then we’ll fill that seat on the United States Supreme court, and to your point, Susan, the issues before us, couldn’t be more serious. There’s the issue of choice and I will always fight for a woman’s right to make a decision about her own body.

Senator Kamala Harris

Asking the Vice President, Page asks, “so, tell us specifically, how would your administration protect Americans with preexisting conditions to have access to affordable insurance if the Affordable Care Act is struck down?” To which The Vice President responded in reply to what Senator Harris had said being pro-choice saying, “It should be her decision and not that Donald Trump, and the Vice President, Michael Pence”:

“Addressing your very first question. I couldn’t be more proud to serve as vice president to a president who stands without apology for the sanctity of human life. I’m pro-life. I don’t apologize for it, and this is another one of those cases where there’s such a dramatic contrast. Joe Biden and Kamala Harris support taxpayer funding of abortion all the way up to the moment of birth. Late term abortion. They want to increase funding to Planned Parenthood of America. [PPA also endorsed the Harris-Biden campaign]  For our part, I would never presume how Judge Amy Coney Barrett would rule on the Supreme Court of the United States, but we’ll continue to stand strong for the right to life.”

Vice President Mike Pence

Unable thus far to get either Biden or Harris to admit or deny that they would pack the Supreme Courts, Vice President Pence redirected the question to Kamala Harris:

“When you speak about the Supreme Court, though, I think the American people really deserve an answer, Senator Harris. Are you and Joe Biden going to pack the court if Judge Amy Coney Barrett is confirmed? I mean, there’ve been 29 vacancies on the Supreme Court during presidential election years from George Washington to Barack Obama.

Presidents have nominated in all 29 cases, but your party is actually openly advocating, adding seats to the Supreme court, which has had nine seats for 150 years if you don’t get your way. This is a classic case of if you can’t win by the rules, you’re going to change the rules.

Now you’ve refused to answer the question. Joe Biden has refused to answer the question-“

Vice President Mike Pence

Senator Harris continued on to make false quotes of our 16th President of the United States, Abraham Lincoln:

“Abraham Lincoln was up for reelection and it was 27 days before the election. And a seat became open on the United States Supreme Court. Abraham Lincoln’s party was in charge, not only of the White House, but the Senate.

But Honest Abe said, “It’s not the right thing to do. The American people deserve to make the decision about who will be the next president of the United States. And then that person can select who will serve for a lifetime on the highest court of our land.”

And so Joe and I are very clear: the American people are voting right now and it should be their decision about who will serve on this most important body for a lifetime.”

senator Kamala Harris

She is literally lying about Honest Abe in efforts to justify the Democrats’ attack on perfectly constitutional action by Trump and the Republicans on Amy Coney Barrett’s nomination. Lincoln sent no one between July and Dec. 5 because the Senate was out of session and he couldn’t:

“Lincoln, of course, said no such thing. He sent no nominee to the Senate in October 1864 because the Senate was out of session until December. He sent a nominee the day after the session began, and Salmon P. Chase was confirmed the same day. And Lincoln wanted to dangle the nomination before Chase and several other potential candidates because he wanted them to campaign for him. Lincoln’s priority was winning the election, which was necessary to win the war — and he filled the vacancy at the first possible instant.”

From National Review:

Below is a brief back and forth between the debaters which is a complete avoidance of an answer on Kamala’s part, and I am glad The Vice President stuck to the question:

Racial Justice

Susan Page then asked the question, “used a gun registered to him to fire a shot, which wounded an officer. The officers then fired more than 20 rounds into the apartment. They say they were acting in self-defense. None of them have been indicted in connection with her death. Senator Harris, in the case of Breonna Taylor was justice done?”

She answers the ridiculously simple question, which could literally be answered by a simple yes or no, “I don’t believe so. And I’ve talked with Breonna’s mother, Tamika Palmer and her family and her family deserves justice.” Then she went on a tangent about Breonna’s life, protesting racial injustice, and admitting that she “was part those ‘peaceful protests.'” Then she has this to say about what she would do about police reform based off of her time as a prosecutor:

Joe and I will immediately ban choke holes and carotid holes. George Floyd would be alive today if we did that. We will require a national registry for police officers who break the law. We will, on the issue of criminal justice reform, get rid of private prisons and cash bail.”

I am completely flabbergasted that she is unaware of the cause of death being from a combination of a knee on the spine, an overdose of lethal amounts of fentanyl and methamphetamine in his system, and delusional excitement delerium. There was no choke hold or carotid hold involved, which was evident in the viral video of his death, however, a hold like that may have actually saved him by just knocking him out really quickly.

Vice President Pence then answered the question while giving credit to the american people, but also calling out the violent riots that have come from the ‘peaceful protests’ and the Senators actions that have prevented the unification of our people and police reform:

Well, our heart breaks for the loss of any innocent American life and the family of Breonna Taylor has our sympathies. But I trust our justice system, a grand jury that refuse the evidence. And it really is remarkable that as a former prosecutor, you would assume that an impaneled grand jury looking at all the evidence, got it wrong. But you’re entitled to your opinion, Senator. I think, and with regard to George Floyd, there’s no excuse for what happened to George Floyd. Justice will be served, but there’s also no excuse for the rioting and looting that followed

this presumption that you hear consistently from Joe Biden and Kamala Harris, that America is systemically racist, and that as Joe Biden said that he believes that law enforcement has an implicit bias against minorities is a great insult to the men and women who serve in law enforcement. And I want everyone to know who puts on the uniform of law enforcement every day, President Trump and I stand with you.

And it is remarkable that when Senator Tim Scott tried to pass a police reform bill, brought together a group of Republicans and Democrats, Senator Harris, you got up and walked out of the room and then you filibustered Senator Tim Scott’s bill on the Senate floor that would have provided new accountability, new repeat resources. We don’t have to choose between supporting law enforcement, proving public safety and supporting our African-American neighbors and all of our minorities.”

Vice President Mike Pence

Kamala Harris responded by flaunting her career, misrepresenting it and not mentioning her long history of locking up black men, and then attacking The President with a slue of lies:

“This is a part of a pattern of Donald Trump’s. He called Mexicans rapists and criminals. He instituted as his first act, a Muslim ban. He on the issue of Charlottesville, where people were peacefully protesting the need for racial justice, where a young woman was killed. And on the other side, there were neo-Nazis carrying Tiki torches, shouting racial epithets, anti-Semitic slurs. And Donald Trump when asked about it said, “There were fine people on both sides.””

Senator Kamala Harris

When do we beat Mexico at the border? They’re laughing at us, at our stupidity… The U.S. has become a dumping ground for everybody else’s problems.

Thank you. It’s true, and these are the best and the finest. When Mexico sends its people, they’re not sending their best. They’re not sending you. They’re not sending you. They’re sending people that have lots of problems, and they’re bringing those problems with us. They’re bringing drugs. They’re bringing crime. They’re rapists. And some, I assume, are good people.

But I speak to border guards and they tell us what we’re getting. And it only makes common sense. It only makes common sense. They’re sending us not the right people.

It’s coming from more than Mexico. It’s coming from all over South and Latin America, and it’s coming probably— probably— from the Middle East. But we don’t know. Because we have no protection and we have no competence, we don’t know what’s happening. And it’s got to stop and it’s got to stop fast.

President Donald Trump

Executive Order 13765 of January 20, 2017 was the first act of the Trump Administration. The Executive Order was called “Minimizing the Economic Burden of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act Pending Repeal.”

In fact, if you look at the Politifact list of the first week of President Trump’s actions as President of the United States, there was nothing at all to do with Muslims or banning of travel, which is what I’m assuming she meant by “Muslim ban.”

President Trump’s actual Charlottesville quote
President Trump disavowing and condemning white supremacy

When Vice President Pence replied, he called out Susan Page and Kamala Harris on “selectively editing” for the quotes they use to condemn The President, which they are absolutely guilty of. Then he made sure to go back to Senator Harris bringing up her prosecutor record:

“I really need to make this point. When you were DA in San Francisco, when you left office, African-Americans were 19 times more likely to be prosecuted for minor drug offenses than whites and Hispanics. When you were Attorney General of California, you increased the disproportionate incarceration of blacks in California.

You did nothing on criminal justice reform in California. You didn’t lift a finger to pass the first step back on Capitol Hill. I mean, the reality is your record speaks for itself.”

Vice President Mike Pence

Senator Harris then went on a 3-minute rant trying to defend her record as a prosecutor against Susan Page’s request for her to move on.

During her defense she said, “I was the first statewide officer to institute a requirement that my agents would wear body cameras and keep them on full-time;” yet as Attorney General she did not endorse statewide police body cams being used and said she believed law enforcement leaders, along with their departments, should “use the discretion to figure out what technology they’re going to adopt based on the needs that they have and the resources that they have. I don’t think we can have a one-size-fits-all approach to this.”

With nothing to honestly say in her defense she added:

“I will not be lectured by the Vice President on our record of what we have done in terms of law enforcement and keeping our community safe and a commitment to reforming the criminal justice system of America.”

Senator Kamala Harris

The Election

As a final question for the debate Susan Pages asks Senator Harris, “If your ticket wins and president Trump refuses to accept a peaceful transfer of power, what steps would you and vice president Biden then take? What would happen next?

Kamala Harris gave another nonanswer, responding with talk of different people and organizations that support the Harris-Biden campaign and how people need to vote, literally saying nothing to answer the question.

Ms Page then turned and asked Vice President Pence the same question, instead of asking what they would do if the Democrats don’t accept the election results, asking, “If vice president Biden is declared the winner and president Trump refuses to accept a peaceful transfer of power, what would be your role and responsibility as vice president? What would you personally do?”

When you talk about accepting the outcome of the election, I must tell you. Senator, your party has spent the last three and a half years trying to overturn the results of the last election. It’s amazing. When Joe Biden was vice president of the United States, the FBI actually spied on president Trump and my campaign. I mean, there were documents released this week that the CIA actually made a referral to the FBI, documenting that those allegations were coming from the Hillary Clinton campaign. And of course, we’ve all seen the avalanche, what you put the country through for the better part of three years, until it was found that there was no obstruction, no collusion, case closed.

And then Senator Harris, you and your colleagues in the Congress tried to impeach the president of the United States over a phone call. And now Hillary Clinton has actually said to Joe Biden that, in her words, under no circumstances, should he concede the election.

So let me just say, I think we’re going to win this election. President Trump and I are fighting every day in courthouses to prevent Joe Biden and Kamala Harris from changing the rules and creating this universal mail in voting that’ll create a massive opportunity for voter fraud. And we have a free and fair election. We know we’re going to have confidence in it. And I believe in all my heart that president Donald Trump is going to be reelected for four more years.
